Ebonyi Women Embrace OFE Garden.
The OFE Garden Project – meaning Soup Garden – officially launched in Ebonyi State, courtesy of Her Excellency, the Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, in collaboration with Natari Foundation Nigeria and A4Success Thailand, the manufacturer of 4Tree organic fertilizer.
It was truly a moment of transformation and empowerment as over 130 women were equipped with practical skills to grow the ingredients needed for delicious and nutritious soups right in their backyards. Soup, called OFE in the Igbo language, is a symbol of home, culture, and nourishment.
Each participant received:
Quality hybrid seeds and seedlings of vegetables and spices
4Tree Organic Fertilizer to ensure healthy, chemical-free crops
Hands-on training on organic gardening and micro-farming methods
Certificates of Participation recognizing their commitment and readiness to grow
Cash Donations
The benefits of having an OFE Garden are endless:
Food Security: Families can grow their own vegetables and spices, reducing dependence on market prices and ensuring constant access to fresh, healthy ingredients.
Nutrition: Homegrown soups are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that boost immunity and improve family health.
Income Generation: Surplus produce can be sold, helping women earn extra income and support their families.
Cultural Preservation: Growing traditional soup ingredients keeps local cuisines and indigenous crops alive for future generations.
Climate Action: Organic backyard gardens reduce carbon footprints and promote sustainable agriculture.
The OFE Garden movement is part of a larger vision – to see every home with its own soup garden, ensuring no family goes hungry. From Ebonyi to every state in Nigeria and beyond, the journey to promote OBE/OFE Gardens is advancing, bringing hope, food, and financial freedom to women and households.
Together, we are building eco-edible communities where food grows within reach, women thrive, and homes flourish.
